Acoustical theory

It’s only rather recently that a theoretical approach in musical acoustics has allowed researchers to understand in detail how wind instruments work, and to analyze centuries of empirical knowledge accumulated by the instrument makers. Computer simulation tools developped by the scientific community can indeed help in the design of new instruments, although experience and listening remain of paramount importance.

For those further interested, I have written here some articles on different subjects pertaining to whistles and flutes. They are based on a collection of books and scientific papers that I have gathered over the years (see reference list here: bibliographie).
